Background of the Study: Organ donation is a critical component in saving lives and improving the quality of life for patients suffering from end-stage organ failure. Despite the clear medical benefits, organ donation rates remain low in many parts of Nigeria, including Kaduna State, due to various sociocultural, religious, and psychological barriers (Bello et al., 2023). Nurses, as frontline healthcare providers, are in a prime position to influence public perceptions and educate individuals about organ donation. They can provide essential information, address misconceptions, and encourage individuals to consider organ donation as a viable option (Obinna & Yusuf, 2024).
In Kaduna State, however, there is limited research on the specific role that nurses play in promoting organ donation awareness. The lack of organized education campaigns and the scarcity of trained professionals in organ donation advocacy have hindered efforts to increase awareness and acceptance (Adeoye & Usman, 2024). The study explores how nurses' education, communication skills, and advocacy efforts contribute to the promotion of organ donation awareness in this region.
Statement of the Problem: Despite the life-saving potential of organ donation, there is a significant gap in awareness and acceptance, particularly in Kaduna State. A lack of education and misinformation among the public have led to low donation rates. Nurses, who interact closely with patients and the community, can be powerful agents of change. However, their impact on organ donation awareness and acceptance is not well understood. This study seeks to examine the role of nurses in promoting organ donation awareness and acceptance, identify barriers to their involvement, and assess their effectiveness in influencing the decision-making process of individuals regarding organ donation.

Scope and Limitations of the Study: This study will focus on nurses working in hospitals and healthcare facilities in Kaduna State. The research will explore their involvement in organ donation education, advocacy, and public engagement efforts. Limitations include the potential for bias in self-reported data and the inability to include all hospitals in the state.
